Dear Members,
Welcome to another edition of the IFFCA newsletter. This time of year, our rooms are full of feathers as the moult is in full swing. The birds are preparing for the fall shows, so now is an excellent time to hang show cages and start their show training.
Unfortunately, there have been reports of birds lost to diseases introduced by newly acquired stock. A simple but effective method of prevention is to quarantine all new birds before introducing them to your flock. In addition, be sure that windows and doors are properly screened to keep out unwanted pests.
We are pleased to share that IFFCA will be sponsoring the Fife section at the San Diego County Canary Club Show, October 18. We encourage everyone to support the club and bring your Fife canaries to the show. Each year, your board accepts applications for sponsorship and selects one club to support. This sponsorship includes funding and rosettes, as part of our ongoing commitment to promote the Fife canary.
Our goal is to continue strengthening the presence of the Fife canary in bird rooms, on the show bench, and as cherished companions.
We look forward to seeing you at the fall show. Until then, stay well and enjoy your birds.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Faria
President, IFFCA
